It is very easy, if you use the Bluelab EC Truncheon tester to read your solution.
Immerse the probe for 1 to 2 minutes in the solution which then reaches the same temperature as the solution. The reading is indicated when the light flashes. Calibration of the tester is not necessary.

When growing, it is essential to know precisely the nutrient values that feed your plants.
To take a reading of your solution, simply place the Truncheon probe head in the solution for 1-2 minutes to match the temperature of the BlueLab tester with that of the solution. Then remove it from the solution and put it back in again to take the EC or CF or ppm reading of your solution. Finally rinse the probe after use in cool, clean water (at least once a week) to ensure accurate EC values.
No tester calibration is required. Also very handy for stirring up your nutrient reservoir.
Precautions for use:
The instrument is as precise as the probe is clean!!! Cleaning the probe is one of the most important factors when owning any tester from Bluelab. If the probe is contaminated or dirty, it affects the accuracy of the displayed value. The surface of the probe is where the instrument takes the reading of the solution. The information is fed back from the probe into the instrument’s electronic brain. A calculation is then made in the processor (or microcomputer instruments depending on the BlueLab models employed) and the reading is then displayed.
Regular cleaning of the probe or probes of BlueLab testers is a very easy task and prolongs the life of the probes.
